How does tailoring work? — the whole journey from visit to collection

The tailoring steps at Ramada Al-Raqi Tailoring as they really happen: from choosing the fabric to the fitting and collection, with the usual timings.

The steps

  1. Visit and choose the fabric

Straight from the tailoring branch’s stock, or bring your own fabric.

  2. Agreeing the price

According to the fabric and the stitch type.

  3. Measurements

    Taken by a specialist tailor.

  4. Thobe details

The stitch type, then the collar, sleeve, placket and pockets.

  5. Deposit

Half the amount if the fabric is from the shop, and no deposit if the fabric is yours. Payment is in cash or by card.

  6. Preparing the fabric before cutting

If both the fabric and the tailoring are ours, we wash the fabric and dry it over three days, then iron it, then cut and stitch the thobe, so as to avoid puckering at the edges and puffing of the interlinings.

  7. Making

Usually 7 to 10 days, and 15 to 20 days in Ramadan and the Eids.

  8. Fitting

    A mid-process fitting on a ready thobe.

  9. Collection

We notify you by SMS and a call, then a final fitting or a request for alteration.
