Men’s stitch types — Mabroom, regular, double and hidden
Four ways to stitch a thobe at Ramada Al-Raqi Tailoring. Each type differs in its look and in the fabrics it suits.

The difference between the types
| Type | How it looks | Fabrics |
|---|---|---|
| Mabroom | Folded seam with small gaps between stitches. Needs a specialist tailor and cannot be altered after stitching. | Filament fabric only |
| Regular | A visible thread drawn along the edges of the thobe. | All fabrics |
| Double | Double stitching for more strength, with clearly marked seam lines. | All fabrics |
| Hidden | The seam does not show, so the look is smoother and it does not crease. | All fabrics |
Which one to choose?
- Hidden: if you want a smoother look and a thobe that does not crease.
- Double: if you want more strength with clearly marked seam lines.
- Regular: a visible thread that suits all fabrics.
- Mabroom: for filament fabric only, by a specialist tailor.
- And choose the fabric itself by occasion, season and use (daily or work).
Questions about stitch types
Why can Mabroom not be altered?
Because its stitching is delicate and only a specialist tailor can do it well, and any mistake in re-stitching may ruin the fabric.
Does Mabroom suit every fabric?
No, Mabroom is for filament fabric only. Regular, double and hidden suit all fabrics.
Are there other types?
The four types are what we offer, along with the French flip collar.
